Herbert is a top rated modern photographer located in St Augustine, Florida. His photos are simple and glamorous in nature. He often only takes one lens on photo outings, and he enjoys taking photos of shapes and lights that he finds interesting. Herbert recently moved to Florida from the DMV / NYC markets and is excited to showcase his talents with a new audience as well continue current relationships with his clients, he is our vision.......
Over the past many years we ran a full time studio out of the DMV area more specifically in Baltimore. We would primarily take assignments from NYC to Richmond Va often having multiple jobs occurring at the same time. One many projects Herb would essentially be the art director working with an entire team while never actually taking a photo. We have made many great friends and special relationships over the years and now have taken our talent to Central Florida. Our photo shoots would range from Headshots of Actors, Medical Equipment, CEOs to full blown campaign adds. We still service a couple clients in the North East although we are very selectively taking on new assignments.
The Tourist Project:
This project came to a good friend, Jeff Martin and myself due the fact we were running full time photo studios and had little to no time for travel and our true love ART~! During our trips to New York we would chat with Robert Rodriguez Jr always asking him to host a workshop in one of our studio back in Baltimore / DC area with no avail. Jeff and I would ask ourselves why does Robert really only stay in his neighborhood, finally we asked him one day. Robert told us; why go away from his studio, his environment, what he knows and sees because all the ART he could ever desire is in his backyard. With all that said I started to scout tourist locations near me and as I travel near me and family trips. I would love to say it is easy as just snapping a photo and I have art. There is still much planning with weather, planetary alignments, and seasons to mention a few. In the collection we have made art in Savannah, DC, Gettysburg, Virginia, Maryland, Pittsburgh PA, and Florida with more to come keeping in mind we are currently working on two additional projects
The Toy Box Project:
Do not let the name fool you this is a very serious and in depth project for us and more importantly Herb. Toys and dioramas have become so detailed and realistic in nature the possibilities are unlimited. When photographing toys you can venture down one of two paths an advertising feel or an artistic feel. If we wanted to attract future clients with this project Herb would have adopted the advertising feel for this project demonstrating skills that would help sell similar products instead he decided to adopt the artistic feel. Taking what Herb learned from his time on film sets he is creating that artistic approach with cinematic lighting and miniature sets. Not only has it been challenging in building miniature sets but taking photographic items such a 20 foot by 20 foot diffusion screen and scaling that down to create the desired lighting like we did for "The Shipwreck" is a challenge. Herb is not sure how many images he will create or how long he will run this series only time will tell.
